This unit covers the design, development, and application of visualisation and interpretation of data and information. Students will gain an understanding of how data visualisations can facilitate advanced and easy interpretation of data and information across contexts. Extensive use is made of software to develop data visualisations and analysis skills to enhance the appreciation of various techniques studied. This unit is designed to inform and educate students about predictive analytics and data mining techniques through an understanding of the algorithms and statistical principles underlying these techniques. The unit will provide students with the knowledge and skills to build predictive models and use data mining tools with ‘Big Data’ including both structured and unstructured data. Students will be given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with contemporary predictive analytics software tools. This unit focuses on the specialised management of risk in a project. Students will develop an understanding of the importance of managing risk from an organisational and situational perspective when implementing a project. They will gain the requisite knowledge and skills to identify and classify aspects of risk management within a project. This involves the identification and prioritisation of risks before they occur; conducting a quantitative risk analysis to estimate overall project risk; responding to identified high priority risks; and monitoring and controlling for those risks and responses to them.
